Recently I saw a salamander on the fringes of lost lake. It looked very similar to the one in the attachment. (I Attached a photo). I liked how it looked and was wondering how to safely keep a short lived salamander, if I just keep it for a week and just re-release it or not, will it forget how to hunt. Please Help. -Kyle (P.S., From what I found out it's a cloud salamander, scientific name being Aneides ferreus) Attachments:

Aneides Ferreus is endemic to the United states so I highly doubt it was that. It was probably Plethodon vehiculum (Western Red-Back Salamander), which is incredibly common on the island.
Don't keep one in captivity, simple as that. It'll end bad for the animal.

We have a few species of Salamanders here in the UK too, the most commonly known is the Great Crested Newt however it is extremely endangered and illegal to even touch one
